Bush Vampire Artwork Featured At Fangtasia In True Blood Episode 4

“Viewers of True Blood, HBO's Southern vampire gothic, may have noticed a politically loaded piece of background art this past weekend.
Prominently featured in a scene set at Fangtasia, a vampire bar, was a painting of George W. Bush sucking blood from the neck of the Statue of Liberty. (A version can be found here.) The image was created by comic book artist and illustrator Alex Ross and ran on the cover of The Village Voice in October 26, 2004 to accompany an article by Nixonland author Rick Perlstein. At the time, the image struck some on the right as offensive.’

True Blood Episode Ratings As Of Episode 4

According to The Hollywood Reporter:
“HBO's new drama "True Blood," which airs at 9 p.m. Sundays, has shown a slight uptick in each of its four weeks on the air, averaging 1.82 million viewers this week vs. 1.81 million a week ago. With DVR, on-demand and repeat data factored in, the series' first two episodes are averaging 5.9 million each.”

Urged by Gran to use her telepathic abilities to weed out the murderer and exonerate her brother, Sookie persuades Bill to take her to a Shreveport vampire bar called Fangtasia, where she impresses a dominant Nordic bloodsucker named Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) with her prescient powers. Later, Bill demonstrates his own considerable powers when an abusive patrolman stops the couple on their way home.
